Meet Sunayana

Sunayana Weber, BS, IBCLC, RLC

She/Her/Hers

[name pronunciation]

I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) serving families in Austin, TX.

Known professionally and socially as Naya for years, I am now going by my full name to honor my South Asian heritage. Sunayana is pronounced “soo-NINE-ahh” (hear the pronunciation)

As an IBCLC, I specialize in providing evidence-based, inclusive, judgment-free lactation and infant feeding support to families in Austin & beyond. I work collaboratively with additional medical professionals (pediatricians, obstetricians/midwives, pediatric dentists, etc.) to ensure that parent and baby both thrive. I support, promote, and protect lactation/breastfeeding and believe that informed and supported is best.

My own rough start with breastfeeding my older son led me to learn as much about lactation as I could. I helped my friends, and they started giving my number out to their friends - I knew I had to explore my newfound passion. It's More Than Milk began as a side hustle and quickly turned into a calling. Eventually it made the shift to my career. I've been supporting families with their lactation journeys since 2012 as a Certificated Lactation Educator & Counselor (CLEC) and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2017.

It's More Than Milk took a backseat for several years as my family grew and relocated from DFW to Austin. After passing the board exam in 2017, I gained invaluable experience while working for a busy lactation practice. The hundreds (thousands?) of families I worked with had a wide variety of concerns and challenges standing in the way of reaching their goals. In August 2022, I made the leap to a small business owner, revived It's More Than Milk as my private practice, and haven't looked back. In 2023, I took on a mentorship role for an aspiring IBCLC. In 2024, I began adding to my team with other like-minded IBCLCs that work to meet parents where they are and support their goals without shame.

I work to help all families meet their lactation goals through individual consultations, and private and small group classes. I strive to provide culturally humble care to every family I support. I've taken on additional trainings focusing on trauma informed care, perinatal mood disorders, anti racist practices, and gender affirming care in the perinatal space. Because of my personal experiences and the population I serve, I'm working towards obtaining a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.

When I'm not learning or working, I love to snuggle my dog, spend time in the backyard pool, sing karaoke badly, and eat my way through this incredible city. I live with my husband, our two sons, and our rescue pup in southwest Austin.

In 2019, I was honored to be nominated for and win the Best Lactation Consultant award at the Austin Birth Awards. In 2020, I was an Honoree at the Austin Birth Awards. In 2021, I was a Finalist at the Austin Birth Awards. In 2023, I was once again nominated and won Best Lactation Consultant at the Best in Birth Austin awards.

My goal is to empower families experiencing lactation challenges with knowledge and compassion.
