Self Pay Rates for Lactation Consultations

It's More Than Milk offers a variety of lactation services. Our goal is to empower families experiencing lactation difficulty with knowledge, compassion, and support.

The following prices are for self pay services only. I will provide clients with an itemized super bill to file a claim. Insurance coverage can vary greatly from plan to plan. It is the responsibility of the client to be informed about their specific plan covers. Payment is expected at the time of the visit, by cash, check, or credit card. Electronic payment such as Venmo and PayPal are also accepted.

I believe that every family should be able to get the lactation support they need. If you are experiencing true financial difficulty, sliding scale rates are available and payment arrangements can be made prior to the visit. This includes bartering for products or services that are equivalent in value.

Initial Postpartum Lactation Consultation

A postpartum visit is usually 1.5 hours, and includes unlimited follow up by phone, text, or email for two weeks after our visit about your care plan. Existing clients are welcome to reach out at anytime. However, if it is determined that additional in-person support is needed, or it has been more than two weeks since our visit, a follow up consultation will be recommended. A report of our visit will be emailed to you and faxed to your baby’s pediatrician within 24 hours.

Visit includes:

A full evaluation of parent and baby's medical history
Assistance with latch and proper positioning techniques
Weighed feeding (pre/post feed weights)
Oral assessment of infant
Evaluation of milk transfer
Addressing your primary concerns and challenges
Pumping, bottle feeding, and supplementing (if applicable)
Evidence-based support and education on newborn and baby care
Customized care plan to help family reach their lactation goal

Self pay:
Office visit: $175
Home visit: $250

A travel fee will apply for home visits
**Home visits are limited and reserved for infants under 4 weeks old**

Follow Up Postpartum Consultation

For established clients only
Follow up consultations are a time to check in and ensure that your lactation issue is on the right path to being resolved. This includes unlimited follow up by phone, text, or email for two weeks after our visit about your care plan. Existing clients are welcome to reach out at anytime. However, if it is determined that additional in-person support is needed or it has been more than two weeks since our visit, a follow up consultation will be recommended. A report of our visit will be emailed to you and faxed to your child's pediatrician within 24 hours. While each appointment is different, a visit may include:

Weighed feeding (pre/post feed weights)
Evaluation of milk transfer
Evidence-based support and education on newborn and baby care
Updating your care plan if needed

Self pay:
Office visit: $125
Home visit: $200

Pumping Consultation

This is a standalone service

Many parents exclusively or occasionally pump in order to provide their baby with human milk. Pumping can be a lot of work, but there are many things that can be done to make it an efficient process. Pumping techniques and properly sized parts are crucial to maintaining your milk supply! This standalone service includes follow up by text or email for two weeks after our visit about your care plan. If it is has been more than two weeks since our visit, a follow up consultation may be recommended.

We will discuss techniques to maximize your milk supply, fit you for flange/breast shield, and troubleshoot issues you’re experiencing.

Self pay: $100 (45-60 minutes)

Pumping consultations are offered as a virtual or in office service only.

Weaning Consultation

THIS IS A STANDALONE SERVICE

Is your lactation journey coming to an end? Let’s talk about the physical and emotional changes that come with weaning. Together, we will discuss your current nursing and/or pumping schedule and figure out a weaning plan for you. This option can be used if you’re looking to wean quickly, or would like it to be a more child-led process.
